The Big Choir was formed in February 2016 to raise money for Cancer
Research UK, and in particular The Crick Institute, a brand new research
facility in London.
They raise money through a weekly subscription from our members who come
along to our sessions to learn some great songs, meet new friends and
generally have a fantastic couple of hours. They will also be performing at local
events and will host concerts for anyone who’d like to come along to support
the choir. The additional money raised from ticket sales will also be donated to
CRUK.
The first choir is based in Hadley Wood and has around 35 members. Their first performance in June was
combined with a cheque presentation to Cancer Research UK who thoroughly
enjoyed the performance. The Big Choir presented them with a cheque for £2000 and
hope that this will be the first of many. The money raised goes specifically
to research and is not lost in the administration for the charity.
They are also about to launch a second choir, this time a day time session! The choir has
been so well received by everyone who’s come along and it’s wonderful to
see it is going from strength to strength.
Apart from your weekly subscription going to fantastic use, it’s also a great
